Equipment managers are the unsung heroes of hockey teams, so the New York Rangers put together a unique celebration for Cass Marques' 1,500th NHL game Sunday.
Marques was honored during the first period of the Rangers game against the Washington Capitals at Madison Square Garden. In addition to a video and stick taps from the players, goalie Henrik Lundqvist wore a mask specific to the occasion with the jersey numbers of some of the best Rangers Marques has worked with over the years.
Together we salute #NYR equipment manager Cass Marques for working his 1,500th game! https://t.co/E0AJDMRtf2
Marques has been an equipment manager with the Rangers for more than 18 seasons. New York made sure his anniversary was a happy one, and Marques was given a puck after the Rangers' 2-1 victory.
