Subban and Lundqvist were the only NHL players on the list, which was determined by a panel that included stylists, fashion journalists and former NBA player Walt "Clyde" Frazier. The panel judged athletes based on how they dress and how, why and where they wear what they do. It picked Russell Westbrook, guard for the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder and noted
hockey jersey wearer
, as the most fashionable athlete.
Subban and Lundqvist appeared as the lone NHL players on the inaugural list in April 2016. Lundqvist dropped one spot, from No. 5 to No. 6. Subban was not ranked last year; only the top 10 were. The top 20 were ranked this year.
Lundqvist told SI, "I don't see myself as very fashionable," but said his fashion inspiration comes from James Bond movies.
He said he expects more NHL players to crack the list in the years ahead.
"When I first got into the league in 2005], I remember all the older guys, they were making fun of my suits, my skinny ties and my skinny jeans," Lundqvist told the magazine. "Now it's changing with the younger guys; they care a little more about fashion."

in August and defined his fashion icon as 1980s-era Michael Jackson, finished ahead of noteworthy athletes like Bryce Harper, Russell Wilson and Carmelo Anthony.
When asked, Subban compared his fashion stylings to his own personality.
"My style is true to who I am and definitely different than everyone else's style," Subban told SI. "I'm always looking for things that are uncommon and unique."
