The Detroit Red Wings are willing to trade the No. 6 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, general manager Ken Holland told The Athletic on Wednesday.
"I'm open to possibly move," Holland said.

Detroit holds the No. 6 selection after falling back one spot in the NHL Draft Lottery. It also has the No. 30 or 31 pick in the first round, acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights in a trade for forward Tomas Tatar, as well as two second-round picks and three third-round choices among its total of 11.
The draft is June 22-23 in Dallas.
"I've started to talk to some teams about a lot," Holland said. "As you work your way toward Dallas at the draft, draft movement possibilities, I think at this stage in the game, everybody is kicking tires as to what might be out there."
Detroit is looking for a defenseman or a center, The Athletic said. Some of the players who could be available in the 6-10 range, according to the

The Red Wings also could use the No. 30 or 31 pick and one of their second-round picks (Nos. 33 and 36) in a trade to move up (if Vegas wins the Stanley Cup, it would be pick No. 31; if not, it would be pick No. 30).
"If somebody on your list starts to slide, then you start to work the phone," Holland said. "We like a lot of players in that range, in that 30-35 range. We think there's some pretty good players. Do you package two of those picks and try to move up? Possibly, if somebody high on our lists starts to slide and starts to fall."
Holland reportedly also met with the agents for Red Wings defenseman Mike Green, who can become an unrestricted free agent July 1; for forward Anthony Mantha, who would be a restricted free agent; and for forward Andreas Athanasiou, who is eligible to sign an contract extension.
