The staff at Rogers Place is ratcheting up the entertainment even without fans in the stands.
The arena television and public-address announcer Al Stafford reminded fans at home to exit their couches safely after the Colorado Avalanche's 4-0 win against the Dallas Stars in the round robin portion of the Stanley Cup Qualifiers in Edmonton.
The announcement was a play on Edmonton's usual announcement to drive home from the game safely. Fans are not allowed to attend games at Rogers Place or Scotiabank Arena in Toronto due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The empty seats haven't stopped the Western Conference hub in particular from cheekily joking about the empty seats. Stafford and the NHL announced the attendance at the Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues game Sunday, 0, during the third period of that game Sunday.
