The 25-year-old defenseman was a restricted free agent and filed for salary arbitration Oct. 10.
"We're pleased to bring Ryan back for three more years," Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic said. "He bolstered our offense on the back end and is a big, powerful defender who earned his way into a top role on our blue line this past season."
Graves scored 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) and led the NHL with a plus-40 rating in 69 games last season. He scored three points (one goal, two assists) in 15 postseason games for the Avalanche, who lost the Western Conference Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to the Dallas Stars in seven games.
Selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (No. 110) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Graves was traded to Colorado by New York for defenseman Chris Bigras on Feb. 26, 2018. He scored five points (three goals, two assists) in 26 games as a rookie in 2018-19.
