Ryan Lindgren

Ryan Lindgren has agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers.

The 20-year-old defenseman, who completed his sophomore season at the University of Minnesota, was acquired by New York in a trade that sent forward Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins. Terms of Lindgren's contract were not disclosed.
"In my conversations with (general manager Jeff Gorton), he spoke really highly to his competitive nature," New York coach Alain Vigneault said. "He plays hard. They say he's a really character young man."
Lindgren will report to Hartford of the American Hockey League.
Lindgren had nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 35 games this season and 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 67 games over two seasons. He was a member of the United States team that finished third at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship and won the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Selected in the second round (No. 49) in the 2016 NHL Draft by Boston, Lindgren (6 feet, 202 pounds) was traded to New York on Feb. 25 with a first-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey, and a seventh-round pick in the 2018 draft.
Lindgren is the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens goaltender Charlie Lindgren.
