Ryan Murray

Ryan Murray signed a two-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.
Financial terms were not released.

The 25-year-old defenseman, who was a restricted free agent, had an NHL career-high 29 points (one goal, 28 assists) in 56 games with the Blue Jackets last season. He did not play after Feb. 18 because of an upper-body injury.

"Ryan Murray is an elite puck-moving defenseman with excellent vision and we are excited that he will continue to be an important part of the young and talented blueline we have in Columbus," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. "He has battled injuries early in his career, but he is still a young player with great upside and we believe his best seasons are ahead of him."
Selected by Columbus in the first round (No. 2) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Murray has 101 points (13 goals, 88 assists) in 320 regular-season games. He has not played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
