Mother knows best, especially when it comes to the New York Rangers starting lineup.
Trish Strome, the mother of Rangers forward Ryan Strome, was at United Center as part of the team's moms trip. Trish, clad in her son's No. 16, read the starting lineups on Wednesday. Trish entered the Rangers locker room after a little rehearsal to herself and knocked it out of the park. After a kiss for her son, Trish read off the names and handed out a little bit of advice to her son's teammates.
“Panarin. Move him the puck. MOVE. HIM. THE PUCK.”
For Artemi Panarin: "Move (Ryan) the puck! Move him the puck." For Jesper Fast: "If (Ryan) gives you the puck, put it in the net." A birthday wish for Adam Fox and an order for Ryan Lindgren not to get hurt again in front of his mom followed. As for goalie Igor Shesterkin: "I just love saying Shesterkin!"
What a moment tonight. I only aged 5...maybe 10 years as she read the line up card 😂🤦🏻♂️ LGR! https://t.co/NT8bTcdhyr
Of course, Strome scored. And the reaction in the suite where the moms hung out was terrific as expected. And there was plenty of celebrating to do during the 6-3 win.
Here, it is worth noting that Trish has another son who was playing on the other side, Chicago Blackhawks forward Dylan Strome and Ryan and Dylan took the opening faceoff against each other. Dylan won the faceoff but if he wants Trish in his jersey, he is going to have to wait for the Blackhawks moms trip.
