After a huge fundraising day in Buffalo, Don Granato threw a strike.

The Buffalo Sabres coach threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Toronto Blue Jays hosted the Texas Rangers at Sahlen Field, home of the team's Triple-A affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons.

Granato tossed the pitch on "Giving Day" in the city, run by Give716, where the Blue Jays, Sabres and NFL's Buffalo Bills helped raise over $1.1 million for various charitable endeavors.

Charities that benefit from Give716 are wide ranging. Youth education and arts programs, special needs aid, animal resuce programs, suicide prevention and many more organizations will beneift from the big fundraiser.

The Blue Jays have spent the 2021 MLB season playing outside of Toronto due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. They started out playing home games at their spring training facility Dunedin, Florida, before moving to Buffalo on June 1. They plan to return to their permanent home, Rogers Centre, on July 30.
