Sam-Gagner

Sam Gagner will be out the rest of the season for the Winnipeg Jets because of surgery on each of his hips.

Coach Rick Bowness said Thursday that the forward had surgery on one of his hips this week and will have surgery on the other hip soon.
"Sam Gagner had some hip issues over the last little while," Bowness said. "He's elected to have some surgery, so he's out. The hips have been bothering him, so he had an operation on one the other day and I think he's going to have another one in two weeks once that one settles down."
The 33-year-old has 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 48 games this season. He last played in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 28.
Gagner has 519 points (192 goals, 327 assists) in 1,015 games NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings and Jets.
A first-round pick (No. 6) by the Oilers in the 2007 NHL Draft, Gagner signed a one-year contract with the Jets on Sept. 22.
The Jets (38-28-3) are three points ahead of the Calgary Flames for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
