SJS@CBJ: Boqvist jumps in and scores on the backdoor

COLUMBUS -- Adam Boqvist scored twice for the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 6-4 win against the San Jose Sharks at Nationwide Arena on Sunday.

Boqvist's second goal gave the Blue Jackets a 5-3 lead after Jack Roslovic broke a 3-3 tie in the third period.
Alexandre Texier had a goal and an assist and Elvis Merzlikins made 30 saves for the Blue Jackets (13-10-0), who had lost four in a row, all on the road while being outscored 18-6.
"To see the effort in the third and be able to take over that game was very important," Roslovic said. "We need to see how to play these energetic home games on the road."
Adin Hill made 24 saves for the Sharks (13-11-1), who lost the final two of a five-game road trip after winning the first three.
"It could have been a great trip. We still got six points, but I think we should have had eight," San Jose forward Tomas Hertl said.
Boqvist gave Columbus a 1-0 lead with a one-timer from the right face-off circle at 16:16 of the first period.

The Sharks, who outshot the Blue Jackets 19-9 in the first, scored 24 seconds apart over two periods for a 2-1 lead. Nick Bonino tied it 1-1 with three seconds left in the first, and Erik Karlsson scored 21 seconds into the second on a long slap shot.
Sean Kuraly tied it 32 seconds later to make it 2-2 at :53. He came down the right wing on the rush and tried to set up Eric Robinson for a tap-in, but the puck went off the stick of Sharks defenseman Mario Ferraro and between Hill's pads.
"We started the third a little bit on our heels, tried to play it safe, and they scored two quick ones and we couldn't find our footing from there," Karlsson said.
Brent Burns ended an 11-game point drought when he scored at 8:44 of the second to give San Jose a 3-2 lead. It was his first goal in 15 games.

Cole Sillinger tied it 3-3 at 17:49 with an unassisted goal, his fifth of the season and first in 13 games.
"When we get these games at home, we have to capitalize on them," Sillinger said. "We had real good legs in the third period and generated a lot of chances. Everything went our way."
Roslovic gave Columbus a 4-3 lead at 1:57 of the third. He returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch at the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
"The team needed it at the time," Roslovic said. "To be able to help the team win is something I love to do."

Boqvist scored again at 5:34 with a shot from the top of the left circle after a pass from Gabriel Carlsson to make it 5-3.
"We can score. It loosens everyone up," Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen said. "It helps the whole bench. You take a breath and you're not squeezing the sticks as hard."
Before the game, Blue Jackets forward Gustav Nyquist got a signed stick by Karlsson for Boqvist, who growing up in Sweden idolizing the Sharks defenseman.
"It was a cool night," Boqvist said. "My job is to make plays and score some points and help the team offensively."
Hertl made it 5-4 at 10:11 with a shot from the low right circle.
Texier scored an empty-net goal with 1:07 remaining for the 6-4 final.
"We played pretty good on the road trip, but tonight it got away from us. It's unacceptable," San Jose coach Bob Boughner said.
NOTES: Sharks forward Andrew Cogliano returned after missing three games for personal reasons. He played 13:56 and has an assist on Bonino's goal. … Bonino has four goals, all in the past seven games, after not scoring in the first 18 games this season. … Karlsson has three goals in his past four games … The Blue Jackets have won nine of 12 at home this season. … Columbus defenseman Andrew Peeke had two assists for his first multipoint game in his 56th NHL game.
