Burns

NASHVILLE -- The San Jose Sharks scored three goals in the final 8:20 of the third period to rally for a 5-4 win against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday.

Brent Burns had a goal and two assists, Tomas Hertl and Timo Meier each had a goal and an assist, and Martin Jones made 25 saves for San Jose (5-3-1), which has won three straight.
"We understand there's no quit in this room," Sharks forward Joe Pavelski said. "If you've got a two-goal lead, you've got to keep playing. We've been on the other end of that already this year, so there's always time. We're fairly a depth team. We've been rolling four lines. Guys are fresh in the third, so if we can find that little bit of edge and a bounce here or there, we should be able to be in games."

Viktor Arvidsson had two goals and an assist, and Juuse Saros made 27 saves for Nashville (7-2-0), which had won five straight.
"We gave up a shorthanded goal," Predators forward Colton Sissons said. "Obviously, we made it way too easy on him there. There was a bit of a miscommunication and just kind of left a guy alone coming up the ice. That's one thing we definitely can't do. They had some odd-man rushes there again and scored a big power-play goal. We knew how dangerous their power play was going into the night."
Brenden Dillon scored a shorthanded goal to cut it to 4-3 at 11:40 of the third period. Pavelski scored 36 seconds later to tie it 4-4, taking a pass from Logan Couture and beating Saros blocker side from the right circle.
"We have confidence in this group," Dillon said. "We have confidence in this team. Just from Day One of training camp, we have a big goal in mind for us. [Nashville] is going to be one of those teams that's going to be right there at the end. Coming into this building, here we are eight, nine games in, was a big test for us."

SJS@NSH: Burns unloads big one-timer for PPG

Burns gave the Sharks a 5-4 lead at 17:08 on a one-timer off a pass from Erik Karlsson from the left circle on the power play.
Meier gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead at 6:58 of the first period with a power-play goal.
"This is obviously a hard building to play in," Meier said. "They're one of the top teams, no doubt about that. We know we're up there, too. I think we haven't been playing our best game, but we knew coming into this game, it was going to be a good challenge for us, we can show what we're made of."
Arvidsson tied it 1-1 at 11:14 on a breakaway, deking Jones before finishing with a backhand. Filip Forsberg gave the Predators a 2-1 lead 21 seconds into the second period on a rebound in the slot.

SJS@NSH: Arvidsson turns on jets, dekes and scores

Hertl tied it 2-2 at 7:52 on a rush, beating Saros on a forehand from in front.
Arvidsson gave the Predators a 3-2 lead at 10:45. Forsberg retrieved the loose puck after two saves by Jones and passed to Arvidsson, who scored on a one-timer from the slot.
Craig Smith gave the Predators a 4-2 lead at 19:45 on a 2-on-1.

They said it

"It was a big gut check for us. We got through two periods, I thought we were playing OK. But obviously we were in a hole and they were opportunistic. I think we talked between the second and third about coming out and being a little harder around both nets. That commitment paid off." -- San Jose coach Peter DeBoer

SJS@NSH: Pavelski buries cross-ice pass from Couture

"We weren't going to win out the rest of the season. We know that. Obviously, it stings a little more when you have a two-goal lead heading into the third in your own building. We don't like that one bit, don't get me wrong. But certainly things we can get better at and keep pushing forward, which we always do." -- Nashville forward Colton Sissons
