LAS VEGAS -- Jonathan Marchessault scored 1:21 into overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 5-4 win against the San Jose Sharks at T-Mobile Arena on Friday.
William Karlsson had two goals, Shea Theodore and James Neal each scored, and Marchessault had two assists for Vegas (14-6-1), which has won four games in a row.

Marchessault received a cross-ice pass from Theodore, skated in slowly from the left face-off dot, and beat goalie Aaron Dell with a shot off Joe Thornton's right skate.

"We played good in overtime," Marchessault said. "We didn't give them much chances, not even one shot, I think, so it's positive. I just tried to manage the puck (before the winning goal), and I got a lucky bounce there."
It was the eighth straight home win for the Golden Knights, tying the 1917-18 Toronto Arenas for longest home winning streak by a team in its inaugural season. They are 9-1-0 at home.
Tomas Hertl, Brent Burns, Chris Tierney and Mikkel Boedker scored for the Sharks (11-8-2), who came back from down three goals in the second period.
"You get a point. That's important," Burns said.

Starting goalies Maxime Lagace and Martin Jones each was pulled. Dell replaced Jones for San Jose early in the second period, and Malcolm Subban took over for Lagace in the Vegas net to begin the third period.
Subban made three saves to earn the win in his first game since being activated from injured reserve Nov. 17.
"We should have never let them come back, but that's our group, the way we're built, and we came back and got the two points," Marchessault said. "That's the only thing we're looking at right now."
Logan Couture appeared to give the Sharks a 5-4 lead at 2:40 of the third period, but Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant challenged for goalie interference, and video review showed Joonas Donskoi prevented Subban from doing his job in the crease.
Couture said the correct call was made.
"I asked the ref, he said skate on skate," Couture said. "If that's the case, and he was in the crease, then it's no goal."
Subban said he wasn't sure what happened.
"I'm just trying to stop the puck, so if somebody hits me, I'm just trying to get back into position," Subban said.
Theodore scored his first goal of the season 2:33 into the game to give Vegas a 1-0 lead, and Neal made it 2-0 at 11:16 of the first period.

Hertl scored with 2:52 left in the first to cut the Golden Knights lead to 2-1.
Karlsson scored each of his goals in the second period, the first 10 seconds in and the second at 6:55, to put Vegas ahead 4-1. Jones was pulled after Karlsson made it 3-1, having allowed three goals on 14 shots.
"We were horrible in the first." Donskoi said. "The way we came back and played in the second and third period was good."
Karlsson, whose 12 goals are tied with Neal for the Vegas lead, has scored in four straight games and five out of six.
"It feels like the puck is always there for me," Karlsson said. "Then again, my linemates really make it easy for me. It would have been nice to get the hat trick, but I'm happy with the two goals and the two points."

Burns, whose 29 goals led NHL defensemen in 2016-17, started the Sharks rally when he scored his first of the season at 8:08 to make it 4-2. Tierney (15:34) and Boedker (19:13) followed to make it 4-4.
Dell made 17 saves in relief.
Lagace had 19 saves in his 11th straight start. Gallant said Lagace was pulled because he was not feeling well. He did not announce his starter for the game Saturday at the Arizona Coyotes.
