Nurse uses "The Forsberg" to score in Tendy Tandem

Canadian women's hockey star Sarah Nurse was wearing an NHL All-Star jersey during the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings Sportsbook at FLA Live Arena on Friday.

But she could have easily been wearing a throwback Peter Forsberg sweater.

Nurse pulled out the stops during the Discover NHL Tendy Tandem event, going full "Forsberg" while scoring against New York Rangers goalie and Metropolitan Division All-Star Igor Shesterkin.

Nurse made a pretty move to her left and brought it all the way back, keeping just one hand on the stick in a move made popular by the Swedish-born legend, a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Colorado Avalanche and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee.

Nurse, whose cousin Darnell Nurse is a defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers, said a friend back home talked her into it.

"I had one of my friends back home was like 'just try it!'" Nurse told NHL.com. "So I was like 'Why not?' and I set it up and it worked out. It was fun."

At first, she wasn't sure it even worked.

"I didn't realize it went in at first," Nurse said. "After I heard everyone cheering I saw it and I was like 'Oh my goodness it went in.'"
