Scott Stevens' All-Star captain picks: McDavid, Wheeler, Tavares, Stamkos

Voting for the 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Game started on Dec. 1, with fans getting the opportunity to pick the four division captains for the game at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Jan. 28.
With a second voting update to be released Wednesday, NHL Network analyst Scott Stevens, who captained the New Jersey Devils to the Stanley Cup in 1995, 2000 and 2003, shared with NHL.com his picks for the four division captains.

Pacific Division

Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers

"It's hard not to go with McDavid. I know he's had a sickness which has slowed him down a bit this year and I think that has taken a lot out of him. He's a Hart Trophy winner and I think deserving of the captaincy at the All-Star Game."

Central Division

Blake Wheeler, Winnipeg Jets

"He's the captain of the Jets and he's been outstanding leading that team. He's putting up points, leading by example and has developed into a great player and a good leader so I would go with Wheeler."

Metropolitan Division

John Tavares, New York Islanders

"He seems to be that guy. He's very important to that team. He's a strong player who can score goals. He's able to use his strength to get away from people, score and make plays. He goes about his business and he's good with all the players."

Atlantic Division

Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning

"He's done a lot in his return after battling injuries. I know other players have returned from injury in Tampa, but Stamkos has come along and done a great job, and the year Tampa is having I think it's only fitting that Stamkos be the captain at the All-Star Game."
