SEA@BOS: Pastrnak scores twice to lift Bruins

BOSTON --David Pastrnak scored two power-play goals for the Boston Bruins in a 3-2 win against the Seattle Kraken at TD Garden on Tuesday.

The forward has scored 14 goals in the past 17 games after scoring eight in the first 26.
"From the first half of this season, I haven't changed much," Pastrnak said. "To be honest, I think it was a little bit of puck luck earlier, and it didn't go my way. Today is a great example of that, both goals got deflected and went in, so just getting a little lucky."
Taylor Hall had a goal and an assist, Brad Marchand had two assists, and Linus Ullmark made 25 saves for Boston (26-14-3), which is 2-2-1 in its past five games.
"These guys have been around, and they know the importance of [getting points]. We didn't value that tonight, and we weren't very respectful of the game in a number of instances with the puck for whatever reason," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. "At the end of the day, they got [the lead] back, and got a big goal for us on the power play. We held on, got some saves, and got the win."

Joonas Donskoi and Mason Appleton scored, and Chris Driedger made 23 saves for Seattle (14-27-4), which is 4-8-0 in its past 12 games.
"We played a good third [period]. We played a good hockey game," Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. "It was a tight game, 5-on-5, special teams. … We had some opportunities on the power play that could change that, in terms of scoring earlier in the game. We weren't able to do that."
Pastrnak made it 1-0 at 9:06 of the second period on the power play with a one-timer from the left face-off circle that deflected off Donskoi.
Hall made it 2-0 at 16:09, batting the puck to the bottom left corner after Kraken forward Riley Sheahan could not control it in front of the crease.
"It's been better for me [offensively, lately]," Hall said. "I didn't love my last five or so games. I feel like I ran into a bit of a wall with my game, and I couldn't get much going. I have felt better since the COVID break, just coming in, playing my game and being a little more relaxed at the rink and away from the rink. It lets me play my best when the chips are down."

Donskoi cut it to 2-1 with a wrist shot through traffic 42 seconds into the third period for his first goal in 44 games with Seattle.
"Well, it's a relief," he said. "It's been obviously tough here, mentally. It's not easy when nothing's going your way and we keep losing our games. You just want to help the team, but I haven't been able to do a lot of that this year. So it was nice to get that out of the way, but … another one-goal loss type of game. It's frustrating."
Appleton tied it 2-2 at 7:30, deflecting Adam Larsson's shot that then went in off Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy.
Pastrnak made it 3-2 at 10:49 with a one-timer from the left circle.
"I honestly thought [Pastrnak] was passing it backdoor there," Driedger said. "Whenever it hits off your glove and kind of floats back, you're never really happy with those. Obviously, he's an elite player, but there's a lot of elite players in this league. You've got to stop them, if you want to be good yourself."
NOTES:Bruins defenseman Urho Vaakanainen left the game with an upper-body injury at 1:38 of the second period. He was boarded by Kraken forward Yanni Gourde who had a five-minute major reduced to a minor after review. … Pastrnak scored his 51st NHL game-opening goal, tying Cam Neely for the seventh in Bruins history. … Seattle defenseman Cale Fleury was minus-1 with one hit in 10:37 of ice time in his season debut. He played with older brother, Haydn Fleury, for the first time professionally, becoming the third set of siblings to play for the same team this season (Darren Raddysh and Taylor Raddysh of the Tampa Bay Lightning; Seth Jones and Caleb Jones of the Chicago Blackhawks).
