The forward, who will have surgery, did not play in Seattle's most recent game, a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 1, and was a late scratch for a 6-4 loss to the Calgary Flames on Dec. 30.
Schwartz has scored 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 29 games, second on the Kraken behind Jordan Eberle (22 points). He signed a five-year contract with Seattle on July 28 after playing his first nine seasons for the St. Louis Blues.
Seattle is next scheduled to play at the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 10 after having three games postponed this week (home against the New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators; at the Winnipeg Jets) because of COVID-19 concerns and attendance restrictions in certain Canadian cities.
