Sorokin, Horvat lift Islanders to 4-0 win

ELMONT, N.Y. -- Bo Horvat scored his first goal with the New York Islanders, and Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves in a 4-0 win against the Seattle Kraken at UBS Arena on Tuesday.

It was Horvat's second game with New York after being acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 30.
"Definitely felt nice," Horvat said of his goal. "Definitely felt even better to get the win."

Sorokin got his second straight shutout and fifth this season, which is tied with Darcy Kuemper of the Washington Capitals for the NHL lead. Sorokin made 23 saves in a 2-0 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Jan. 27.
"Ilya, again, [it] just seems like he's so calm back there," Islanders center Mathew Barzal said. "Nothing seems to faze him."
Samuel Bolduc scored his first NHL goal and Jean-Gabriel Pageau had two assists for New York (27-22-5), which has won four in a row, including 2-1 at the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.
"We got to keep it rolling with the win," Horvat said. "Everybody's buying into playing [well] defensively and it's just leading to our offensive chances. So, we [have] to continue to keep doing that."
Martin Jones made 24 saves for the Kraken (29-16-5), who played for the first time since Jan. 28 and started a five-game road trip.
"Obviously you don't want to use it as an excuse," Seattle forward Jaden Schwartz said of the break. "A lot of teams are in [a] similar situation. … We know what our game looks like when we're sharp."

SEA@NYI: Sorokin blanks Kraken with 32 saves

Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky left the game after he sustained a lower-body injury on his first shift. There was no update.
"It's not ideal," Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said. "It's not ideal to lose a guy on his very first shift 20 seconds into the hockey game, but those things happen. We've been able to adapt and overcome.
" … That's not the reason for tonight. It's not ideal for sure to go down to 11 forwards and 59 minutes to go in the game, but that's not the reason that we couldn't get ourselves going tonight."
Bolduc gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 7:59 of the first period with a low wrist shot from beyond the left face-off circle that found its way through traffic. Bolduc's first NHL goal came in his fifth game.
"Amazing," Bolduc said. "For sure, it's something that I'll never forget."

Simon Holmstrom made it 2-0 at 18:29 when he roofed a wrist shot after a pass from behind the net by Pageau.
Zach Parise gave New York a 3-0 lead at 3:38 of the second on a redirection of Pageau's shot from the edge of the right circle, and Horvat swatted a feed from Barzal in the right circle at 5:08 to make it 4-0.
"I didn't give him a great pass," Barzal said. "I gave him kind of a bad puck and he buried it. It's almost a relieving feeling. He's a goal-scorer, right? So, he can hit those and just has a really good knack for goal-scoring."
Immediately after his goal, the crowd of 17,255 began chanting Horvat's name.
"It was pretty amazing," Horvat said. "I haven't had a chant like that in a building that loud I don't think ever, so that was pretty amazing."
Sorokin made 13 saves in the second and 11 in the third period.
"Our goaltender played well for us and gave us an opportunity to get our legs under us," Islanders coach Lane Lambert said.
NOTES:Horvat will face his former team Thursday when New York hosts Vancouver. … It was Sorokin's 15th NHL shutout in 110 starts. … Bolduc replaced defenseman Alexander Romanov, who did not play because of personal reasons. Lambert said he does not expect Romanov to be out for an extended period. … It was the first time the Islanders scored four goals in a game since Jan. 3 (16 games). … New York center Brock Nelson extended his point streak to eight games (four goals, five assists). … Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield got his 100th NHL point with an assist on Bolduc's goal.
