The Senators-Oilers game was rescheduled for Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. A makeup date for the Lightning-Devils game has yet to be determined.
There have been 103 games postponed this season because of issues related to COVID-19; the game scheduled for Monday between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre in Montreal previously was postponed. Six of the 103 have been rescheduled.
"I know it's a tough time for everyone," Senators coach D.J. Smith said Sunday. "It's just unfortunate for our group that played through it in November, I don't know how many guys we played without and battled and lost a lot of games. Obviously, now that we're healthy, we're missing all these games against teams that are losing guys. So for us it's frustrating. There are young guys in here that want to play hockey. We fly out to Edmonton and we understand the situation. It's hard on the League. It's hard on everyone, but we just want to play."
The Oilers canceled practice Sunday after forwards Warren Foegele and Tyler Benson were placed in NHL COVID-19 protocol. Six members of Edmonton's support staff and five players entered protocol Saturday, including forwards Kailer Yamamoto and Brendan Perlini, defensemen Evan Bouchard and Slater Koekkoek, and goalie Ilya Konovalov. Center Connor McDavid entered protocol Jan. 4.
Edmonton hasn't played since losing 4-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 5. Home games against the New York Islanders (Jan. 8), Minnesota Wild (Jan. 12), Vegas Golden Knights (Jan. 14) and Chicago Blackhawks (Jan. 18), and a road game against the Winnipeg Jets (Jan. 16) have been postponed. It is scheduled to host the Florida Panthers on Jan. 20.
The Devils have had six games postponed this season. Forward Janne Kuokkanen and defenseman Damon Severson entered COVID-19 protocol Sunday, and forwards Jesper Bratt and Nathan Bastian entered protocol Saturday.
Senators games at the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday and at the Jets on Jan. 15 were postponed Friday because of attendance restrictions in Canada cities because of COVID-19.
On Thursday, the NHL announced the game between the Detroit Red Wings and Anaheim Ducks scheduled for that night at Honda Center in Anaheim was postponed because of COVID-19 issues impacting the Ducks. It was rescheduled for Sunday (Anaheim won 4-3 in the shootout).
Three games were postponed Wednesday because of attendance restrictions in Canada cities.
New Jersey had two games in Canada postponed: at Montreal on Jan. 15 and at Toronto on Jan. 17.
Those games will also be rescheduled for later in the season when restrictions may be eased or lifted.
On Tuesday, the NHL postponed two games scheduled for Jan. 18 (Blue Jackets at Islanders; Red Wings at Philadelphia Flyers) and rescheduled three involving the Islanders.
New York at Philadelphia, scheduled for Nov. 30, was rescheduled for Jan. 18 (7 p.m. ET); New York at Toronto, scheduled for Jan. 22, was rescheduled for April 17 (7:30 p.m. ET); and Toronto at New York, scheduled for April 17, was rescheduled for Jan. 22 (7 p.m. ET).
