"Not much has changed other than maybe just the excitement," Jarvis told the CanesCast podcast. "I think it's been awesome to get down here and just kind of spend time getting adjusted to Raleigh and seeing the city, meeting new people. But other than that I'm still an 18-year-old kid who enjoys having fun and just kind of living life right now."
Jarvis scored 98 points (42 goals, 56 assists) in 58 games for Portland of the Western Hockey League last season; he was second in the league in points, third in goals and tied for fifth in assists. "Seth is an extremely talented player with elite puck skills and scoring ability," Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said. "He has a very bright future, and we are excited to watch him continue his development into an NHL player."
A native of Winnipeg, Jarvis scored 139 points (58 goals, 81 assists) in 130 WHL games.
"I think it's a lot warmer than Winnipeg, so that's a nice change for me," Jarvis said of Raleigh. "Just the drive into the hotel, got to kind of look around to see what it's like and I love it so far. I think the practice facility is amazing. It's brand new and it's great and then this is my first time in the PNC Center. It's been cool just kind of walk around seeing what's on the walls and seeing all the banners and stuff like that."
