Shesterkin

Igor Shesterkin was inches away from a goalie goal.

With a minute and change left in the New York Rangers game against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre, Shesterkin took his shot at the empty opposing net.

Shesterkin missed, but turned a few heads in the process. According to Rangers forward Ryan Strome, it's only "a matter of time" before No. 31 is scoring goals instead of saving them.
"Not just trying to score goals, but the plays he makes on the breakout passes are just spectacular," Strome said. "He's probably a better passer than 75, 80% of our team. I think guys would openly admit that, too."
The rink-long trick shot had support of coach Gerard Gallant, who said he trusts his goalie's decision making.
"I enjoyed it," Gallant said. "I wish [the shot] would've went in the net like everybody else."
Shesterkin nearly met net this time, so next, the odds are looking good.
