Mark Pysyk, Joe Thornton

Signing a contract while sitting on a tractor apparently is the NHL's latest craze.

After watching Joe Thornton sign his newest contract from a tractor, defenseman Mark Pysyk signed his new three-year contract with the Florida Panthers while sitting on a lawn mower.

Pysyk referenced Thornton with a #JumboJoe and #Legend at the end of his post. Thornton signed his new one-year, $8 million contract with the San Jose Sharks -- on his 38th birthday Sunday -- while sitting on a professional-grade tractor. Carey Price
also said he was mowing his lawn
when his agent called to tell him the Montreal Canadiens agreed to an eight-year, $84 million extension.

Pysyk made light of the fact his mower was more modest than Thornton's tractor. But with Pysyk's contract worth $8.2 million, according to CapFriendly.com, he'll soon be able to afford an upgrade. And if his teammates have anything to say about it, he might be better off hiring some professionals.
