There will be no throwing of any trophies at this championship parade in Tampa.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will have a boat parade on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. on the Hillsborough River to celebrate their second straight Stanley Cup championship. It will be the city of Tampa's first celebratory boat parade since Feb. 10, when Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady infamously tossed the Lombardi Trophy from his boat to the one behind him carrying multiple Buccaneers players. The pass was complete, thankfully. The Stanley Cup itself tweeted there would be none of that should Brady and his buddies show up Monday, if only because of the fact that it is much too heavy.
The Lightning also had a boat parade in September after winning the 2020 Stanley Cup and while it produced many unforgettable photos and videos , the Cup stayed put. Fans are encouraged to spread out Monday and follow the boat parade on both sides the Riverwalk. After the boat parade, the team will set up at Julien B. Lane Riverfront Park, which will feature player speeches and performances by Vo Williams and Big Boi.
