ANA@LAK: Byfield skates solo lap prior to NHL debut

All rookies get cheers from fans for their NHL debut, but Quinton Byfield got one from someone extra special.

The Los Angeles Kings forward got a shoutout from Southern California rap legend Snoop Dogg before playing his first game against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

"Congratulations and welcome to the LA Kings, man," he said. "Can't wait to meet you, QB, let's go."
The No. 2 pick of the 2020 NHL Draft was the sixth-youngest player to ever play a game for the Kings, which earned the shoutout from Snoop Dogg, who is no stranger to the Kings. He was a certified hit in the booth during 90s Night,
doing his best play-by-play
of Los Angeles' game against the Colorado Avalanche last year.
Even though Byfield received a celebrity callout, there also were some traditional elements to his NHL debut, including the customary solo lap for players in their League debut.
