Rask ties Bruins record in win against Blues

BOSTON --Tuukka Rask made 28 saves to tie the record for most wins in Boston Bruins history in a 5-2 victory against the St. Louis Blues at TD Garden on Thursday.

Rask's win was his 252nd in the NHL (252-145-56), tying Tiny Thompson, who went 252-153 with 63 ties with Boston. Rask has 50 wins in extra time (26 in overtime, 24 in the shootout).

"Yeah, I mean, it's an Original Six franchise," Rask said. "I've had the luxury to be here for many, many years, so obviously it means a lot, but many more to come hopefully."
Chris Wagner had a goal and an assist, and David Krejci had three assists for the Bruins (27-16-5), who won for the first time in three games (1-1-1) and are 7-2-1 in their past 10.

David Perron had an assist to extend the longest current point streak in the NHL to 13 games for the Blues (20-21-5), who had a four-game point streak end (3-0-1). Jake Allen made 22 saves.
"Yeah it's a frustrating one," Blues forward Ryan O'Reilly said. "I had plenty of opportunities to impact the puck and didn't tonight. It just seemed like it was the case for a lot of the guys. We weren't clean with the puck and it slowed us down. It's tough, they kind of waited us out. It stinks."
Torey Krug gave Boston a 1-0 lead at 3:31 of the second period, taking a pass from Krejci and scoring from the slot through a screen from Jake DeBrusk.
"Just try to make plays," Krejci said. "Try to hold on to it as long as we can but also credit to the other guys driving to the net, getting those lanes open. A lot of guys got to get open, so you know they just make it much easier for me."

O'Reilly scored 52 seconds later on his own rebound at the right post to tie it 1-1. Perron, who had an assist on the play, has 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) during his point streak.
Carl Gunnarsson scored his first goal of the season to give St. Louis a 2-1 lead at 13:36 on a one-timer from the high slot off a pass from Jaden Schwartz.
David Backes tied it 2-2 at 16:00 with a redirection of Zdeno Chara's slap shot on the power play.
"Trying to not take it in the face first of all … and if you can get a piece of it [it will] change directions. With his velocity, it's got a chance," Backes said. "While on the ground I looked and it was in the net, and that was a good feeling to get the game tied and have a chance to get two points tonight."

Wagner converted on a breakaway after deking Allen to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead at 5:27 of the third period, and Brad Marchand made it 4-2 on a rebound at 13:12 after Charlie McAvoy was stopped on a wraparound attempt.
Sean Kuraly scored an empty-net goal at 19:08 for the 5-2 final.
