The 34-year-old forward was in St. Louis training camp on a professional tryout contract after scoring 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 29 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season.
Neal scored a hat trick in the preseason opener, a 6-2 win against the Wild on Sept. 25, and led the Blues with four goals in five preseason games.
Selected by the Dallas Stars in the second round (No. 33) of the 2005 NHL Draft, Neal has scored 555 points (294 goals, 261 assists) in 850 regular-season games with the Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vegas Golden Knights, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Stars, including at least 20 goals 10 times in his 13 NHL seasons.
Neal has scored 58 points (33 goals, 25 assists) in 110 Stanley Cup Playoff games and his teams have qualified for the playoffs each of the past 11 seasons.
