Golden Knights score four straight in third, defeat Blues

LAS VEGAS -- Mark Stone scored two of four goals for the Vegas Golden Knights during the third period in a 5-1 win against the St. Louis Blues at T-Mobile Arena on Monday.

Stone also had an assist and leads the NHL with 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in March, when Vegas is 10-3-0.
"If you look at the way we've been playing the last month or two, our record is really good," Stone said. "We're winning in different areas. That's what good teams do: We find ways to win hockey games."
Keegan Kolesar scored his first NHL goal for the Golden Knights (22-7-1), who were coming off a 3-1 loss at the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday and improved to 4-0-0 in the second of back-to-back games this season.
"A lot of congrats and 'about time.' A lot of good laughs," said Kolesar, who played his 26th NHL game. "I think they might have been more excited than I was."

William Karlsson had a goal and two assists, Jonathan Marchessault had a goal and an assist, and Robin Lehner made 15 saves for Vegas, which has won six of its past seven games and five in a row at home.
Vince Dunn scored for the Blues (16-11-5), who are 2-3-3 in their past eight. Jordan Binnington made 30 saves.
"Very disappointing, it really is," St. Louis coach Craig Berube said. "We won two games [at the San Jose Sharks], played some good hockey, and then just came here and didn't look like a confident hockey team."
Marchessault scored with a sharp-angled shot at 8:41 of the first period to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead.
Dunn tied it 1-1 at 6:42 of the second period when he scored top shelf to the far side with a wrist shot from the left face-off circle.
"I think we were playing pretty good in the first two periods," Dunn said. "We've got to find a way to pick each other up and get back in the game."
Stone gave Vegas a 2-1 lead 1:20 into the third period. After his centering pass hit Dunn in front and came back to him, his shot went in off Dunn's left skate.

Kolesar scored on a rebound at 11:19 to make it 3-1.
The Golden Knights then scored two straight power-play goals, Karlsson at 14:56 to make it 4-1, and Stone at 18:08 for the 5-1 final.
Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore had an assist on the fifth goal, his 100th with Vegas.
"We didn't play well the first two periods, but we hung in there," Berube said. "We get outshot 15-3 in the third period, it's just not good enough. I've got to coach better, they've got to play better. I guess I didn't prepare them good enough."
It was Stone's third game this season with at least three points.
"We were doing some good things," Stone said. "That was a big win."
NOTES:The Golden Knights have scored 19 goals in four games against the Blues this season, including five in three straight. … Dunn scored for the second consecutive game; he didn't have a goal in his previous 20. … Blues forward Robert Thomas was minus-1 in 13:26 in his first game since Feb. 6 because of a broken thumb. … Vegas forward Max Pacioretty missed a second consecutive game with a lower-body injury. ... Golden Knights center Cody Glass was a healthy scratch. Forward Patrick Brown took his place in the lineup and had one shot on goal, two hits, and one blocked shot in 11:24.
