Welcome to the Stanley Cup Playoffs Buzz, a daily look at the races for the 2022 NHL postseason. There are 25 days left in the regular season and the races in each of the four divisions are tight. The top three teams in each of the four divisions and the next two highest-place finishers in each conference reach the playoffs.

Stanley Cup Playoffs clinching scenarios for Tuesday:

Eastern Conference
The Carolina Hurricanes will clinch a playoff berth if:
They defeat the Buffalo Sabres in any fashion (7 p.m. ET; ESPN+, HULU, NHL LIVE) and the Dallas Stars defeat the New York Islanders in regulation (8:30 p.m. ET; BSSW, MSG+, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
Western Conference
The Colorado Avalanche will clinch a playoff berth if:
They get at least one point against the Pittsburgh Penguins (7 p.m. ET; ATTSN-PT, ALT, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).

There are 10 games on the NHL schedule Tuesday, all with playoff implications.
Carolina Hurricanes at Buffalo Sabres (7 p.m. ET; ESPN+, HULU, NHL LIVE)
Sebastian Aho (four goals, four assists) and Teuvo Teravainen (two goals, eight assists) each has a seven-game point streak for the Hurricanes, who are 4-1-2 in their past seven and could clinch a playoff berth if they win in any fashion and the Stars defeat the Islanders in regulation. Carolina leads the Metropolitan Division by four points over the second-place New York Rangers. The Sabres are 23 points behind the Washington Capitals for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference and will be eliminated from playoff contention if they lose in regulation.
Ottawa Senators at Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m. ET; TSN2, RDS, TSN5, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Senators are 28 points behind the Capitals for the second wild card from the East and will be eliminated from playoff contention if they lose in any fashion. The Canadiens have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Toronto Maple Leafs at Florida Panthers (7 p.m. ET; TVAS, BSFL, TSN4, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Maple Leafs play for the second consecutive day after a 6-2 win at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. Toronto has won five in a row and is second in the Atlantic Division, two points ahead of the Boston Bruins and Lightning, who are tied for third. The Panthers became the first team to clinch a playoff berth when they defeated the Sabres 5-3 on Sunday. Florida is first in the Atlantic, seven points ahead of Toronto.
New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils (7 p.m. ET; MSG+ 2, MSG, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Rangers are 0-1-1 after a four-game winning streak and second in the Metropolitan, four points behind the first-place Hurricanes. They'll try to stay ahead of the third-place Pittsburgh Penguins, who are two points behind the Rangers and also play Tuesday. The Devils have been eliminated from playoff contention and will be without Jack Hughes, who leads them with 26 goals, because of a lower-body injury.
Columbus Blue Jackets at Philadelphia Flyers (7 p.m. ET; NBCSP+, BSOH, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Blue Jackets are 0-4-3 in their past seven games and 14 points behind the Capitals for the second wild card from the East. The Flyers, who ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 shootout win against the Rangers on Sunday, have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Colorado Avalanche at Pittsburgh Penguins (7 p.m. ET; ATTSN-PT, ALT, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Avalanche have won three in a row, including 3-2 against the Penguins on Sunday. They lead the NHL with 104 points and have a 13-point lead for first in the Central Division over the second-place Minnesota Wild. They can clinch a playoff berth with one point against the Penguins, who are 2-3-1 in their past six and third in the Metropolitan, trailing the second-place Rangers by two points.
Boston Bruins at Detroit Red Wings (7:30 p.m. ET; SN, BSDET, NESN, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Bruins moved into a tie with the Lightning for third in the Atlantic when they defeated the Blue Jackets 3-2 in overtime Monday and are two points behind the second-place Maple Leafs. The Red Wings are 0-4-2 in their past six games and 23 points behind the Capitals for the second wild card from the East.
Minnesota Wild at Nashville Predators (8 p.m. ET; ESPN+, HULU, NHL LIVE)
The Wild, who are 9-0-1 in their past 10 games and second in the Central, could widen their lead over the idle St. Louis Blues, who are third and trail Minnesota by three points. The Predators are tied with the Vegas Golden Knights for the first wild card from the Western Conference. Nashville trails St. Louis by six points for third in the Central.
New York Islanders at Dallas Stars (8:30 p.m. ET; BSSW, MSG+, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Islanders have won four in a row and are 11 points behind the Capitals for the second wild card from the East. The Stars, whose 4-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Sunday was their first on the road since March 19 (4-2 at the Islanders), could move into either the first or second wild card from the West with a win, depending on Nashville's result against Minnesota. Vegas is idle Tuesday.
Edmonton Oilers at San Jose Sharks (10:30 p.m. ET; NBCSCA, SNW, ESPN+, NHL LIVE)
The Oilers have won four in a row and can pass the idle Los Angeles Kings for second in the Pacific Division with a win. The Sharks have lost three in a row and are 16 points behind the Predators and Golden Knights for the two wild cards from the West.

There were four games Monday, each with playoff implications:
Boston Bruins 3, Columbus Blue Jackets 2 (OT): Jake DeBrusk scored two goals, including the winner 1:03 into overtime for the Bruins, who are tied for third in the Atlantic Division with the Lightning. The Blue Jackets are 0-4-3 in their past seven games and 14 points behind the Capitals for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
Toronto Maple Leafs 6, Tampa Bay Lightning 2: Auston Matthews scored a hat trick for the Maple Leafs and leads the NHL with 54 goals. Toronto has won five in a row and is second in the Atlantic, seven points behind first-place Florida. The Lightning are tied for third with the Bruins, two points behind the Maple Leafs.
St. Louis Blues 5, Arizona Coyotes 1: Vladimir Tarasenko scored two goals for the Blues, who are 4-0-1 in their past five and moved within three points of the second-place Wild in the Central Division. The Coyotes have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Calgary Flames 3, Los Angeles Kings 2: Johnny Gaudreau had two goals and an assist for the Flames, who increased their lead to five points over the second-place Kings in the Pacific Division. The Kings are one point ahead of the third-place Oilers.
