Hockey fans may have noticed a familiar face at the Indianapolis 500 qualifiers over the weekend.
Or maybe "face" isn't the right word.
The Stanley Cup made an appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to take in some IndyCar racing, and even stopped to see the Borg-Warner Trophy, given to the winner of the iconic Indy 500 race.
The Cup made some new friends over the weekend, some of whom have already been acquainted with the Borg-Warner Trophy. Motorsports Hall of Famer and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti posted a photo on Twitter with his family and the two trophies.
Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner, had some fun at the track with The Cup as well, and has almost certainly been having fun watching these Stanley Cup Playoffs as a Florida Panthers fan. He has the Panthers logo placed prominently on the front of his racing helmet.
Qualifying complete for the 107th Indianapolis 500. Tightest field in years. Out-qualified some powerhouse teams today. Won from 19th, and we’ll be rolling off 18th. As my Florida Panthers say … #TimeToHunt ‼️#DrivenbyDRR // #Indy500pic.twitter.com/Ryj2Yzub4M
