Penguins-Star-Wars

The highly-anticipated eighth episode of the "Star Wars" franchise hits the box office this weekend and of all the countless characters from the galaxy far, far, away we have one, super-important, burning question.

Which one would make the best hockey player? For the answer, we went right to the experts.
As "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hits theaters, we asked some fans from around the NHL who they would like to have as a teammate.

Devils-Star-Wars

The answers ranged from the simple to the unique.
"I'd probably want Jar Jar Binks as a teammate," Tampa Bay Lightning forward JT Brown said. "Because he would be real annoying on the ice and get in guy's heads. No one really likes Jar Jar but me and I like that he would be annoying on every shift."
Some others went in the direction of veteran leadership.
"Yoda. He's awesome. He's the best," San Jose Sharks forward Jannik Hansen said. "I mean, he's got the force. He can teach everybody, and again, he's awesome."
"Probably Yoda," New Jersey Devils forward Drew Stafford said. "Because he's got all the answers for everything and he's pretty tough; he's a sneaky, good fighter. Anytime you need answers he'd be the one to go to because he'd be the smartest one out there."
"I'd probably say Yoda. He's as wise as they come and I think he'd be able to get our team through pretty much any situation," Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust said.
"I'd have to go with Yoda, because he's the wisest and smartest," Sabres forward Kyle Okposo said. "He's the man."
And the little green Jedi Master wasn't the only one on the good side of The Force whose skill set would translate to the ice.
"Probably Obi-Wan Kenobi because he's very honest and reliable." Lightning goalie Peter Budaj said. "He'd be good on defense because he'd play an honest game and as a goalie I could count on him."

Hurricanes-Star-Wars

Los Angeles Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper went in a different direction.
"Well, I think you'd have to go with Luke," Kuemper said. "I mean, he's always come through in the clutch and he's one with the Force, so that would come in pretty useful."
But it's not just Jedi Knights that got votes. Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman went with Han Solo.
"He's a guy who likes to live on the edge, he makes plays," Hyman said. "You ever seen him fly a spaceship? He's elite and very elusive. I think he could make some elite plays out there for sure."
But it was Solo's partner, Chewbacca, with his intimidating size and incredible strength that was the most common response.

Chewbaca-Sharkie

"I'd pick Chewbacca because he's big and he looks tough," St. Louis Blues forward Chris Thorburn said. "And he might have some finesse to him too. He doesn't talk very well, so that's kind of like me as well. Doesn't have many words."
"I'd go with Chewbacca. He's an imposing presence out there," Maple Leafs goalie Curtis McElhinney said. "I'd like him in front of my net to clear bodies away so I can see the puck easily."
"I think having a big power forward like Chewbacca would be huge for the boys, someone that doesn't say much but is a dangerous, big animal out there. I'd like to have him on my left wing if I could," said Sabres forward Ryan O'Reilly.
Not only does the size and strength make Chewbacca a wookie players want in the dressing room, but his unquestioned loyalty.
"Chewbacca because he's a beast; he's a big boy. He's loyal and he doesn't say much so you don't have to put up with his nonsense," Devils forward Blake Coleman said.
"I have to think Chewbacca just based on how loyal he is and how good of a teammate he is," Penguins forward Ian Cole said. "Han is a guy that's tough to live with sometimes and Chewbacca is there all the time. He never leaves his side."

Burns-Chewbaca

As far as one of the NHL's answers to Chewbacca? He went away from the Wookie.
"Anakin (Skywalker)," Sharks defenseman Brent Burns said of the character that later became Darth Vader in the series. "Good and evil. He's both. I like that."
