Ken Hitchcock became the fourth coach in NHL history to coach 1,500 regular-season games Tuesday when the Dallas Stars defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-2.

Hitchcock, 66, is in the first season of his second stint with the Dallas Stars. He spent the first seven seasons of his NHL head coaching career with the Stars, leading them to their only Stanley Cup championship in 1999. The 2012 Jack Adams Award winner has also coached the Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues.

Hitchcock has a lifetime record of 807-491-202 and is third all time in wins, trailing Scotty Bowman (1,244) and Joel Quenneville (873).
