The Dallas Stars signed forward Adam Cracknell to a one-year, $675,000 contract Wednesday that runs through next season.
Cracknell, 31, has 10 points (seven goals, three assists) and 32 blocked shots in 53 games with the Stars this season and would have become an unrestricted free agent July 1. The seven goals and 53 games played are NHL career highs. He signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Stars on July 3.

Cracknell (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) has 37 points (18 goals, 19 assists) in 187 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and Stars during seven NHL seasons.
