Tyler Seguin expected to be ready for Stars season

FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin has resumed skating and Stars coach Lindy Ruff said he's working under the assumption the 24-year-old will be ready for opening night against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 13.
Seguin fractured his heel playing for Team Canada in a World Cup of Hockey 2016 pretournament game against Team USA on Sept. 9. It was diagnosed as a week-to-week injury by the Stars.

Seguin skated Monday with injured center Jason Dickinson and practiced with the non-game group Tuesday, hours before the Stars hosted the Florida Panthers in a preseason game.
"His level of practice is going to start ramping up [Tuesday]," Ruff said. "I know he was ready a month ago playing in the World Cup, but now he's got to restart the engine. He's been off again for a good three, four weeks."
It's unlikely Seguin will get into a preseason game, but Stars general manager Jim Nill reiterated Seguin is on track to be in uniform to open the season.
Seguin had 73 points (33 goals, 40 assists) in 72 games last season and missed most of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with an Achilles injury and a calf injury, appearing in one game against the Minnesota Wild in the Western Conference First Round.
