rangers legends

Stephane Matteau, Tom Laidlaw and Glenn Anderson laced their skates up again and re-joined the New York Rangers in a new role.

The former Rangers legends became the newest members of the Blue Crew in a hilarious video posted by the team on Twitter.
Matteau and Anderson were part of the Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team. Laidlaw played for the Rangers from 1980-87.
"There is something special happening with these Rangers," Matteau said at the beginning of the video. "I just couldn't sit on the sideline. I had to be a part of it again. So, I called up the team and they said, 'we have a spot for you, on the Blue Crew.'"

Blue Crew members trained Matteau, Laidlaw and Anderson on how to toss t-shirts, wave the Rangers flag and scrape the ice. Matteau reenacted his famous Game 7 overtime winning goal against the New Jersey Devils in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals with a shovel.
"Matteau! Matteau! Matteau!" he chanted with the shovel up in the air in nod to Howie Rose's 1994 play-by-play call.
"Does he do this a lot?" one of the Blue Crew members asked Laidlaw and Anderson.
"Oh my god, all the time," Anderson answered.
The training ended with all three former Rangers joining the Blue Crew for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round festivities. Laidlaw tossed t-shirts into the stands, Anderson waved the Rangers flag, and Matteau danced with Rangers super fan Dancing Larry.
It's fair to say, they thrived in their new roles.
