Stamkos surprises young fan on video call before morning skate

When mom calls, you always answer. Especially when Steven Stamkos is on the line.

Before Saturday's game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre, one young fan got a surprise after answering his mom's video call.
Stamkos was on the other end signing an autograph before hitting the ice.

After Stamkos and the kid exchanged brief pleasantries through the phone, he had a quick message for the Lightning captain.
"You're one of my favorite players," the young fan said.
"Aw thanks bud," Stamkos responded.
It's unclear why the kid couldn't make it to morning skate himself, but his mom was sure to make sure her son got the next best things: the autograph and a memory that will last a lifetime.
