The Canadiens, who lead the NHL with 4.40 goals per game, moved up two spots to No. 2 this week. They were ranked No. 8 two weeks ago in the first Super 16 of the season and No. 15 in the preseason Super 16.
Montreal was ranked No. 1 by five of the 14 participating staff members this week.
The Tampa Bay Lightning moved up to retake the top spot in the Super 16 from the Vegas Golden Knights, who didn't play and dropped two spots to No. 3.
The Boston Bruins (No. 5) and the Carolina Hurricanes (No. 11) each moved up three spots. The Winnipeg Jets (No. 13) and Pittsburgh Penguins (No. 14) each fell three.
To create the Super 16, each of the 14 staff members put together his or her version of what they think it should look like. Those were submitted and a point total was assigned to each.
The team that was selected first was given 16 points, second got 15, third 14 and so on down to No. 16, which got one point.
