Super 16: Lightning unanimous No. 1, Hurricanes enter top three
Maple Leafs, Avalanche, Bruins fall in NHL.com power rankings

The New York Islanders made the biggest move up, jumping five spots to No. 5. They've won six games in a row with eight goals against.
The Boston Bruins tumbled four spots to No. 8.
The same 16 teams ranked last week are ranked this week.
To create the NHL.com power rankings, each of the 14 participating staff members put together his or her version of what they think it should look like. Those were submitted and a point total assigned to each.
The team that was selected first was given 16 points, second got 15, third 14, and so on down to No. 16, which got one point.
Here is the Super 16:
1. Tampa Bay Lightning (18-4-2)Total points: 224Last week: No. 1
Victor Hedman has an assist in five straight games, matching his NHL career long the defenseman set four other times.
2. Vegas Golden Knights (16-6-1)Total points: 204Last week: No. 2
Robin Lehner is working his way back toward playing again. The goalie was assigned to practice with Henderson of the American Hockey League on a conditioning loan Wednesday. Lehner has been out since Feb. 7 because of an upper-body injury.
3. Carolina Hurricanes (18-6-1)Total points: 190Last week: No. 5
Jordan Staal has scored 10 goals in 23 games, two more than the center scored in 68 games last season, and seven points (three goals, four assists) in his past four games. The Hurricanes have won six in a row since Feb. 27.
4. Toronto Maple Leafs (18-7-2)Total points: 168Last week: No. 3
Auston Matthews ended a five-game goal drought by scoring two in a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, the first of three straight games between Toronto and Winnipeg. Matthews has scored 20 goals in 24 games despite a wrist injury that coach Sheldon Keefe said is affecting the center's shot.
5. New York Islanders (16-6-4)Total points: 160Last week: No. 10
The Islanders are 8-0-1 with 16 goals against in their past nine games. They are 11-0-2 at Nassau Coliseum, the only team in the NHL without a regulation loss at home.
6. Florida Panthers (16-5-4)Total points: 155Last week: No. 6
The Panthers are 9-2-1 with an NHL-best 90.2 percent penalty kill on the road. Sergei Bobrovsky is 4-0-1 with a 2.56 goals-against average and .927 save percentage in five starts since Feb. 25.
7. Washington Capitals (15-6-4)Total points: 140Last week: No. 7
Jakub Vrana has scored five goals in his past six games, including in overtime in a 5-4 win against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, the forward's second goal of the game. The Capitals are 9-2-1 since losing four in a row from Feb. 1-14.
8. Boston Bruins (13-6-4)Total points: 134Last week: No. 4
The Bruins ended a six-game power-play drought (0-for-12) when David Pastrnak scored at 19:32 of the first period in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. Boston has been shut out or scored one goal in three of their past four games and has scored two or fewer goals in five of their past seven.
9. Winnipeg Jets (16-8-1)Total points: 111Last week: No. 8
The Jets have been on the penalty kill fewer than two times per game in their past seven games (12 times total). The problem is, they have allowed five power-play goals in that span and are 62.5 percent on the penalty kill in eight games since Feb. 21.
10. Colorado Avalanche (14-8-2)Total points: 84Last week: No. 9
Nathan MacKinnon returned against the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday after the center missed three games with an upper-body injury; the Avalanche were 1-1-1. Colorado is without forward J.T. Compher (upper body), and defensemen Bowen Byram (upper body), Cale Makar (upper body), Erik Johnson (upper body) and Conor Timmins (upper body).
11. Pittsburgh Penguins (15-9-1)Total points: 69Last week: No. 15
The Penguins have won three games in a row, scoring at least four goals in each, and have scored 21 goals winning four of five. Center Evgeni Malkin has scored seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past five games and 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 11 games since Feb. 18.
12. Minnesota Wild (15-8-1)Total points: 67Last week: No. 12
Rookie forward Kirill Kaprizov has five multipoint games, including four in his past 11 games. Three Wild rookies had more multipoint games in a season than Kaprizov: Kurtis Foster (seven, 2005-06), Ryan Donato (six, 2018-19), and Marian Gaborik (six, 2000-01).
13. St. Louis Blues (14-8-4)Total points: 63Last week: No. 14
Vladimir Tarasenko has an assist and five shots on goal in two games since the forward returned after missing the first 24 games rehabbing from offseason shoulder surgery. Center Ryan O'Reilly has scored six points in his past three games (one goal, five assists).
14. Philadelphia Flyers (13-7-3)Total points: 54Last week: No. 11
James van Riemsdyk scored his 11th goal in his 23rd game of the season, a 5-4 shootout win against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. The forward didn't score his 11th goal last season until his 36th game. He's tied for the Flyers lead with forward Joel Farabee, who has scored his 11 goals at even strength.
15. Edmonton Oilers (17-11-0)Total points: 43Last week: No. 16
Connor McDavid has scored at least two points against each of the other six teams in the Scotia North Division, and at least one goal against all but the Montreal Canadiens (three games).
16. Chicago Blackhawks (13-9-5)Total points: 30Last week: No. 13
The Blackhawks lead the NHL in scoring by rookies this season with 19 goals and 41 points. Forward Pius Suter leads the rookies with 13 points (eight goals, five assists), and forward Philipp Kurashev has scored 10 points (six goals, four assists).
