SUNRISE, Fla. - Brandon Montour broke a tie on the power play with 1:15 left in the third period, and the Florida Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 at FLA Live Arena on Thursday.
Mountour scored with a one-timer from the point. Aleksander Barkov and Aaron Ekblad each had two assists, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 26 saves for Florida. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 38 saves for Tampa Bay, which has lost all four of its preseason games. Zac Dalpe put the Panthers ahead 1-0 at 3:43 of the first period when he skated into the slot for a one-timer after the puck caromed off the end boards. Aleksi Heponiemi made it 2-0 at 18:03 on a rebound. Nicholas Paul cut it to 2-1 at 10:20 of the second period. Vladislav Namestnikov tied it 2-2 at 4:16 of the third from low in the left-circle off a spinning cross-ice pass by Nikita Kucherov.
