Stamkos reaches 70 points in win over Islanders

ELMONT, N.Y. --The Tampa Bay Lightning scored four consecutive goals to defeat the New York Islanders 4-1 at UBS Arena on Sunday.

Mikhail Sergachev had a goal and an assist, and Alex Killorn scored his 20th goal of the season for the Lightning (41-18-6), who moved one point ahead of the Boston Bruins for second in the Atlantic Division.
Tampa Bay has won back-to-back games following a three-game skid. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 23 saves.
"Obviously, the last two years have been some great battles, and they're still pushing and you can tell that they believe in that group," Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman said. "You know nothing happened at the (trade) deadline, they believe in that team. I probably would too. They're a great team. They got all the talent and great goaltending."

Brock Nelson scored for the third straight game for the Islanders (28-27-9), who had won six in a row at home.
Ilya Sorokin made 18 saves but left after the second period with an upper-body injury. Semyon Varlamov made 12 saves in relief.
"It was a pretty even game," New York coach Barry Trotz said. "There wasn't a lot of chances both ways. Both teams, I think, were playing with a lot of bite and a lot of detail. There wasn't much room.
"They had a little bit of a push, but we were fine the first probably eight, nine minutes (of the third). They got the third, and honestly the third goal sort of sucked the air out of our bench for a while."
Nelson gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 18:14 of the first with a wrist shot from the right face-off circle on a 2-on-1 with Anthony Beauvillier. It was Nelson's seventh goal in six games.
Hedman tied it 1-1 at 1:10 of the second, scoring on a wrist shot from the right circle during a power play.
Killorn put Tampa Bay ahead 2-1 at 9:47 on a redirection of Anthony Cirelli's feed.
"We could have been up a couple early," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "We weren't, and then we fall behind. When things aren't going as well as you think they can and confidence becomes an issue, that's when you have to strap the boots on and go back to work, and they did that.
"Nobody was hanging their heads. That was a big thing for us and (a) good result for us tonight."

Islanders center Jean-Gabriel Pageau had a goal overturned with 15 seconds left in the second after the Lightning successfully challenged that Kyle Palmieri was offside.
"It's unfortunate, but I thought we played two solid periods," Pageau said. "We were right there. We were just not able to get that extra goal in the third."
Vasilevskiy kept Tampa Bay in front with a glove save on Palmieri's wrist shot from the right circle at 7:31 of the third, and Ross Colton scored at 9:10 to give the Lightning a 3-1 lead.
Sergachev then converted on his own rebound at 16:56 for the 4-1 final.
"We had some time in the [offensive] zone," Sergachev said. "[Nikita Kucherov] made a [heck] of a pass, and I saw [Steven Stamkos] on the back door. I was trying to finish it nicely. … I got a rebound and shot it and got lucky it went in."
