The 33-year-old forward could have become an unrestricted free agent after the season. He has scored 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 45 games.
"Me and my family love it here in Tampa," Maroon said. "The organization has been nothing but good to us, and to be a part of such a great organization itself, the opportunities they give you every single year to win and the players they provide to play with and the leadership here is nothing but remarkable."
Maroon has scored 54 points (20 goals, 34 assists) in 164 games over three seasons with the Lightning and has won the Stanley Cup each of the past three seasons, twice with Tampa Bay and in 2019 when he was with the St. Louis Blues.
"(Owner) Jeff Vinik and (general manager) Julien [BriseBois] have done a really good job with providing that," Maroon said. "It's a place where you want to win every single day and [coach Jon Cooper] does a great job of providing that winning mentality. There's no place I'd rather be than here."
Selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round (No. 161) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Maroon has scored 260 points (108 goals, 152 assists) in 613 regular-season games with the Lightning, Blues, New Jersey Devils, Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks, and 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists) in 121 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"Good for him. He's grinded out a pretty darn good career," Cooper said. "I truly believe you come into a locker room ... he's found a role here, he's found a home, he's found a spot as kind of one of the guys that people look up to in the room. But he brought a winning pedigree with him. To come out of his Stanley Cup year and walk into our room ... he was one of the guys that helped identify some of the things we needed to do to win. He's done everything we've asked of him. I don't think you can ever have enough guys that know how to win."
