Tyler Johnsons

Tampa Bay sports teams are just a baseball player away from the Tyler Johnson hat trick.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made University of Minnesota wide receiver Tyler Johnson their fifth-round selection during the 2020 NFL Draft on Saturday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning, of course, employ veteran forward Tyler Johnson.

So the Lightning's Johnson naturally had to send a message to new Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady, about the new Tyler Johnson in town.

But, as Paul Rovnak, associate athletic director of communications at the University of Minnesota, pointed out, their Tyler Johnson played some hockey as a kid. Rovnak shared the football player's youth hockey picture on Twitter.

Now, it's just up to MLB's Tampa Bay Rays, as the Lightning pointed out on Twitter.

Virtually, the hat trick is already set, thanks to the Rays creating a Tyler Johnson for use in video games.

That will have to do for now, but we suggest the Rays scouts get busy.
