Tanner Jeannot signed a two-year, $5.33 million contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. It has an average annual value of $2.665 million.
The 26-year-old forward was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for July 24.
Jeannot had 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) and 107 penalty minutes in 76 regular-season games for the Lightning and Nashville Predators last season, including four points (one goal, three assists) in 20 games after he was acquired in a trade with the Predators on Feb. 26 for defenseman Cal Foote and five future NHL Draft picks.
Jeannot did not have a point in three Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Signed by Nashville as an undrafted free agent April 2, 2018, Jeannot has 66 points (35 goals, 31 assists) in 172 regular-season games and two assists in 12 playoff games. In 2021-22, he led NHL rookies in goals with 24 and was eighth with 41 points.
Tampa Bay (46-30-6) finished third in the Atlantic Division last season before losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games in the Eastern Conference First Round.
