CHICAGO -- Taylor Hall was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after the Chicago Blackhawks forward reaggravated a left shoulder injury.

Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said Hall won't play against the Boston Bruins at United Center on Tuesday (8:30 p.m. ET; ESPN+, ESPN, TVAS), but there is no timetable for when he might return.

"I said week to week yesterday, but it could be day to day," Richardson said. "It’s going to be a week because he’s on IR. He’ll miss this game and the start of the road trip for sure (at the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday). We’ll just take it day by day from there.

"He said he’s a quick healer. We’re not sure what that means really yet, but we’re hoping it is. Anything quicker is better than longer for us because I thought he had a good start for us."

The IR placement was made retroactive to Saturday, when Hall left at 8:24 of the second period of a 5-3 loss to the Golden Knights. He came back to start the third, but his last shift ended with 7:07 remaining.

The 31-year-old originally sustained the injury when he was hit by Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo in the first minute of the second period in Chicago's 3-1 loss Oct. 11.

Richardson said after that game that Hall likely would be week to week, but Hall skated with the Blackhawks two days later in Montreal. He did not play against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 14 but did in a 4-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs two days later.

Hall has two assists in five games for the Blackhawks. He was acquired along with forward Nick Foligno by the Blackhawks from the Bruins on June 26. He was brought in to help give Chicago a more veteran presence, and to be a linemate for Connor Bedard, whom the Blackhawks selected No. 1 in the 2023 NHL Draft.

"He hasn’t scored a goal, but he’s contributed a lot on goals and playing hard and physical, which I never really thought he played that physical because I'd never seen him play that much live," Richardson said. "But he’s a real good 200-foot player that we miss right now."

Bedard was joined on the top line by Foligno at left wing and Tyler Johnson at right wing at practice Monday.

The No. 1 pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft, Hall has 695 points (264 goals, 431 assists) in 827 NHL games for the Oilers, Devils, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Bruins and Blackhawks.

Forward Philipp Kurashev (left wrist) had his first regular-season practice with the Blackhawks on Monday and will make his season debut against the Bruins.
