Tomas Nosek signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old forward had 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 66 games for the Boston Bruins last season and two assists in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"At my age when you get older you think all about winning so I want to do is win and that's why I'm here," Nosek said Thursday. "… I'm excited for the opportunity to join a great team, a great group, and help the team win the Cup."
Signed as a free agent by the Detroit Red Wings on June 14, 2014, Nosek has 101 points (42 goals, 59 assists) in 398 regular-season games for the Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights and Red Wings and 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 52 playoff games.
Nosek joins a Devils team that reached the second round of the playoffs last season then added forward Tyler Toffoli from the Calgary Flames and defenseman Colin Miller from the Dallas Stars.
"You think about games that you played against them … they're such a speed team and are able to really create a lot of opportunities offensively," Miller said Thursday. "So that was something, in playing them in the past, that you were always a little nervous being a defenseman. Myself, you're well aware of those skilled forwards and stuff like that."
