Buffalo Sabres season snapshot memorable moments

With the NHL pausing the 2019-20 regular season on March 12 due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus, NHL.com is taking stock of each of the League's 31 teams.

Today, a look at three memorable moments for the Buffalo Sabres at the pause:

Sunday night shoutout

The greatest goalie in Louisiana high school hockey history needs no introduction, but when asked to do the customary greeting for "Sunday Night Football," Buffalo Bills All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White gave a shoutout to his pals at KeyBank Center.

During introductions, when players typically announce their names and the colleges they attended, White mixed it up and said

instead of his alma mater, Louisiana State University.

White made

for his goalie academy with Buffalo Sabres goalies Carter Hutton and Linus Ullmark, forward Kyle Okposo, defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen and television analyst Martin Biron. Hutton missed the moment because he was putting his kids to bed, but he returned to find his phone lighting up with notifications.

The Bills went on to win the Dec. 15 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 17-10, and former Sabres forward Michael Peca returned the favor during a 50th anniversary pregame ceremony when he

ripped off his jersey to reveal White's Bills jersey

to the delight of the crowd.

Throwback to 'The Aud'

For their 50th anniversary celebration, the Sabres went all out, all the way down to dressing up their arena.

The Sabres draped red, gold and blue T-shirts on the seats of KeyBank Center to replicate the look of Memorial Auditorium, known affectionately as "The Aud," for their game against the Nashville Predators on Dec. 12.

The Sabres played at The Aud from their debut in 1970 until 1996.

Eichel's shorthanded razzle dazzle

Even with all eyes on Jack Eichel, he can still fake out a whole arena.

During a 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Dec. 31, the Sabres captain got to a loose puck, took it into the offensive zone, faked out the defense, and a camera operator, and put home a shorthanded beauty.
