Paul tied it 1-1 at 19:55, scoring from just outside the blue paint after Victor Hedman found him open with the backdoor pass.
“It's a game of mistakes pretty much every night and who makes the least and who capitalizes on their chances when they get looks," Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh said. "It is uncharacteristic for us to give up two shorties like that on the same penalty. It is what it is. ...We'll be better tomorrow night”
Point cut it to 3-2 at 3:26 of the third period after he beat Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to the net and scored on the forehand from close range.
"We regrouped and came back in the third, scored one and had some legit looks and their goalie kicked them out. To me it was a really good hockey game. If you told me we were going to limit Florida to zero 5-on-5 goals, minimal chances all night...I would have really liked our chances. But when you lose special teams 3-0, that's a hard one to bounce back from."
Reinhart scored his second goal of the game into an empty net at 19:29 for the 4-2 final.
“You saw it in the third period, those guys, they're tremendous players and you really can’t be comfortable," Knight said. "You can’t ever get comfortable in the game regardless of how much you’re up by or what time is left just because of how much offensive talent they have. It’s always fun playing them because they’re so talented and it’s like a really good challenge, and that’s what makes us better.”
