TUE. NOV. 26
Potential win: Utah Hockey Club (at MTL)
The Utah Hockey Club is dealing with an injury to No. 1 goalie Connor Ingram (upper body), but backup Karel Vejmelka is quietly tied for second in the NHL in save percentage (.926) this season entering Monday. Vejmelka, who has a .947 save percentage over his past three games but only 1-2-0 in the span, could be due for better win fortunes (two victories in eight starts, 10 appearances) because, per NHL EDGE stats, he's tied for the sixth-best high-danger SV% (.862) entering Monday. Utah ranks seventh in the NHL in shot attempts percentage at 5-on-5 (53.1), and the Montreal Canadiens rank fifth worst in that category (45.9). -- Pete Jensen
Chance at most saves: Montreal Canadiens (vs. UTA)
The Canadiens have allowed the second-most goals per game (3.80) and seventh-most shots on goal per game (30.1) in the NHL entering Monday, but usual starter Sam Montembeault is tied for the 13th-most saves (366) in the League. Utah is tied for the fourth-fewest shots on goal per game (26.2) but is sixth in shot attempts differential (plus-118) at 5-on-5. The Canadiens, meanwhile, rank last in shots on goal per game (24.2). Per NHL EDGE stats, Utah has the seventh-most mid-range shots on goal (175) and fourth-most midrange SOG among forwards (149) entering Monday. -- Chris Meaney
Chance at fewest goals allowed: Boston Bruins (vs. VAN)
In the Bruins' first two games since replacing Jim Montgomery with Joe Sacco as coach, they are 2-0-0 with one goal allowed. After allowing 27 goals over the seven prior games (since Nov. 5), leading to the coaching change, Boston has not trailed in either of those two games and generated 18 more shots on goal than its opponents. Per NHL EDGE stats, the Bruins have allowed a total of six high-danger shots on goal over those two games; they were averaging 6.9 high-danger shots on goal allowed per game over their first 20 games of the season. Goalie Jeremy Swayman stopped 19 of 20 shots in a win against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday and has a .944 save percentage (67 saves on 71 shots faced) in his career against the Vancouver Canucks. Per NHL EDGE stats, Swayman has the most saves against long-range shots (97) without allowing a goal (1.000 long-range save percentage) entering Monday. Vancouver has been outscored 16-4, including a pair of shutouts, over their past four road games in Boston. The Canucks have the second-highest road shooting percentage at 5-on-5 (14.5) entering Monday, indicating there could be some regression ahead. -- Troy Perlowitz
