Bruins set regular season wins record with 63rd win

PHILADELPHIA -- The Boston Bruins
set the NHL record
with their 63rd win, 5-3 against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday.

David Pastrnak had a hat trick to give him
60 goals on the season
for Boston (63-12-5), which tied the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and the 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning with their 62nd win, 2-1 against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
Pastrnak, who also had an assist, is the first Bruins player to score 60 in a season since Phil Esposito had 61 in 1974-75.
"It's been a lot of fun, I'm not going to lie," Pastrnak said. "It's been enjoyable, especially the group we have here. We obviously knew the stakes, and it's definitely special to hit it in a game like this. Made history today.
"Our focus each day is to get better each game and get prepared for playoffs. Obviously the record is amazing but we're building toward something bigger than the NHL record. That's our focus."

BOS@PHI: Pastrnak records goals 58, 59 and 60

Pavel Zacha had a goal and an assist, Tyler Bertuzzi had three assists and Jeremy Swayman made 34 saves for the Bruins, who have won six in a row.
"For our team, it means that everything that we believe in, being process-oriented, staying in the moment, caring about each other, respecting each other, and how hard we play for each other, I think the word team is exemplified with that group in there," Boston coach Jim Montgomery said.
Joel Farabee and Owen Tippett each had a goal and an assist for Philadelphia (29-38-13), which lost its sixth straight game. Felix Sandstrom made 29 saves.
"I think probably the last 10 games it could have gotten ugly for us, but we've dug down and tried to stay in games," Farabee said. "We felt like we gave ourselves an opportunity there. They're a really good team, they play really structured."
Charlie Coyle scored from the high slot to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead 47 seconds into the game.

BOS@PHI: Coyle buries a one-timer from the slot

Wade Allison tied the game 1-1 at 1:04, knocking the rebound of his shot away from Connor Clifton and past Swayman for his first goal in 19 games.
Pastrnak put the Bruins ahead 2-1 at 2:04 of the second period when his shot along the ice beat Sandstrom.
Boston made it 3-1 at 7:31 on Pastrnak's one-timer from the left face-off circle.
He completed his third hat trick of the season when he finished a 2-on-1 with Bertuzzi to put Boston ahead 4-2 39 seconds into the third period. It was his 300th NHL goal and extended his point streak to eight games (11 goals, two assists).
"It's easy when you're passing it to him," Bertuzzi said. "He was feeling it tonight. It's a big accomplishment for him. He's been a great player for this team this year. It was good to see him get it."
Pastrnak credited teammate Brad Marchand for making him believe 60 goals was possible after he scored 48 in 70 games in 2019-20
"'Marchy' told me many, many years ago, when I was young, he said, 'You have to always aim 10 goals higher than you think you can get,'" Pastrnak said. "So I was aiming at 60. Wasn't really thinking I would get there.
"I know what kind of player I am in this League right now, and I came really close before COVID, so I knew I could do it. That helps with your mindset."
The Flyers stayed in the game when Farabee scored to make it 3-2 at 13:58 of the second. After Pastrnak's third goal, they got within 4-3 at 9:06 of the third on Tippett's goal.
Zacha closed the scoring at 16:56.
"We've had that most of the year," Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said. "We've been chasing games all year long. ... It's something they can lean on as we continue to try to build this."
