Lunqvist alumni game rookie lap split

It’s been a while since Henrik Lundqvist was a rookie. Until Sunday, that is.

Before the Alumni Classic between New York Rangers alumni and New York Islanders alumni, Lundqvist took the ice on his own, as rookies sometimes do when they enter the League. The Hockey Hall of Fame goalie has plenty of NHL games under his belt, but Sunday marked his first alumni game.

Lundqvist led the team out of the locker room, but, at the urging of former Rangers defenseman Darius Kasparaitis, the rest of the guys decided to hang back and let the Rangers legend have a moment.

Lundqvist had a laugh about the situation on social media, singling out his former teammate.

Even at an alumni game, tradition is tradition.
