What’s better than watching NHL highlights? Collecting them. Trading them. Showing them off!
The NHL, NHLPA, NHLAA and Sweet partnered together to launch NHL Breakaway, a new digital collectibles platform where fans can collect and trade NHL highlights from league’s past and present stars.
NHL fans can display their own collection of highlights on their account and trade with other collectors. It is the only NHL digital collectiable platform that uses past and present game highlights with a wide array of camera angles and iconic sounds of the game.
Each pack features a collection of highlights across sets tailored to a specific theme. For example, the Opening Ice: Elites set features highlights from the league’s top stars career debuts, and The Hunt for Stanley 2023 features top moments from the NHL’s 2022-23 Stanley Cup playoffs.
A wide range of rarity tiers for NHL Breakaway highlights ensures both casual and seasoned collectors can build their own collections in a manner that best reflects their fandom. Highlights are minted only once and will be capped at the the quantity defined by rarity tier. So make sure you get there early when drops are announced.
Other features of the platform include a Trade Lounge where users can trade collectibles with each other and a Play section where fans can participate in quests to complete sets and earn exclusive rewards. The rewards may include in-person NHL experiences and exclusive packs.
NHL Breakaway was launched last summer with a select few individuals invitied to participate in initial drops and to provide feedback on new product features. With the launch of these new features, the platform is now open to everyone.
In the coming weeks, features will be added to the platform and more challenges for fans to play against their fellow collector community.
